If there wasn’t a person could overload a server by blocking huge amounts of users/communities
Wouldn’t that be something you’d fight with rate limits, not hard limits?
That depends on the algorithmic complexity of the block handling code in Lemmy. Theoretically it could happen, but I haven’t reviewed the source code.
Only one way to know it…

I’ve blocked multiple hundreds of communities, so if there is it’s high enough to not matter much
