Isn’t your teacher lied to you ?
Isn’t your teacher beated you for no reason ?
Isn’t your teacher get angried to you without a proper reason ?
Isn’t your teacher used you and then didn’t minded you ?
Isn’t your teacher give too much punishments to you ?
Etc…
But still why ?
(Am not asking this to citizize anybody or disrespect others. Just a doubt formed in my mind as a student. If am asking anything wrong please correct me 😊)

You respect every human being for being. But then you may choose to disrespect somebody for doing something.

I feel like this diluted the meaning of the word.
Yes. You should treat every one with dignity and decency and politeness and all that, but in the context of teachers getting respect from students because they’re teachers…. It’s a different thing.
In the former, it’s basic decency. The latter is something more- obedience and acceptance. For teachers they should be respectable. Many aren’t. But they should be worthy of the respect… and kids should give it. When teachers prove unworthy…
Same with cops. Cops should be worthy of respect. And you should give it. But the reality is ACAB and I ain’t giving that respect.

It all boils down to: Whoever gets to make the rules will make sure that those rules benefit themselves, once someone new gets to make the rules, they will only change the rules if it’s no longer beneficial to the ruler.
Old people said respect your elders, young people hated it but got old and decided they wanted THEIR turn. Lather, rinse, repeat.
