But… why?
The whole point is that the profiles are real people to network with professionally. The second people know that a profile might be a corporate bot, I feel like the site is DOA.

But… why?
The whole point is that the profiles are real people to network with professionally. The second people know that a profile might be a corporate bot, I feel like the site is DOA.
The AI tool that I saw on there was to give users advice on “how to make your profile better”. The tips were generic garbage, so maybe after they train the AI on member profiles, the tips can be even more generic garbage.
For when you really want to blend into the crowd and not be bothered by possible employers or recruiters. Fuck yeah, I might do that then.
Same techbro hegemony as Meta’s “Facebook AI Friends” they are trying to roll out.
No, the point of the entire site is to generate revenue. They’ve been pushing subscription based AI to help with profile writing for a while. GenAI content is also supposed to be good for juicing engagement numbers to show to advertisers.
I agree with you that it probably won’t work and the whole thing will degenerate into shrimp Jesus and bots replying to bots, but that’s the line of thinking. They don’t give a fuck about the quality of the service.
Is “synergy” back in fashion now? It seemed to go away for at least a decade.
First off, you’re forgetting the baseline for critical thinking in the states these days. The site is essentially too big to fail. We’re stuck with it while.
the hell are they going to train it on? jerking itself off? cause that’s all it’s going to “learn” if it trains on Linkedin profiles and posts.
It’s just going to slurp up a bunch of tech bros posts that think AI is the second coming. it’s just going to learn that it thinks it’s hot shit when it’s not.
Idiots creating a narcissism machine is pretty peak rn
I have one but I never post anything. On those rare occasions I log in, all the corporate bootlicking makes me want to immediately log off.
It is useful for learning which of your coworkers are pathological ass-kissers, though. Seems like the fewer in-demand skills they have, the more they post “motivational” BS on LinkedIn…
You can disable this in Settings -> Data privacy -> Data for generative AI improvement.
Or Settings & privacy -> Account preferences +> close account -> follow the instructions.
i had my linkedin profile suspended in case i ever needed it for something. now i had it closed instead.
It’s probably too late. Does anyone these days really believe that these companies actually delete anything?
As someone who basically doesn’t use linkedin anymore, and also doesn’t particularly care if they train a terrible AI model on my information, can someone explain to me why should I bother to turn off this setting (I have not logged into linkedin in months)?

This link should take you to the settings page where you can turn it off: www.linkedin.com/…/data-for-ai-improvement
See also this page for other privacy settings: www.linkedin.com/mypreferences/d/…/privacy

Thanks for this. A lot of people here are saying just delete it, but I’m the professional world it is quite literally where you may get you job. The vast majority of mine have been because of LinkedIn.
