- Comment on Reddit is making sitewide protests basically impossible 1 month ago:
In every community, there is always another power-hungry asshole ready to jump on the opportunity to have a tiny bit of control over somebody else.
Mods not modding is nothing new to reddit. The only impact they would feel is if users stopped posting. I don’t see that happening though.
- Comment on TikTok must face U.S. lawsuit over the platform's viral “blackout challenge” that several parents blame for their children’s deaths, an appeals court ruled 2 months ago:
social media should go back to being a purely chronological feed, curated by the users themselves, and cut corporate influence out of the equation.
But then how would they make money if they can’t keep users doomscrolling forever to keep serving them ads? Won’t someone think of the shareholders?!

You don’t need AI to figure out why people go to a T-Mobile store.
Option A: your service sucks, and the hold time on the phone is over 2 hours.
Option B: the glass sandwitch that you sold me cracked because I looked at it funny, and the fucking manufacturer won’t honor the warranty because they didn’t get enough of my money.

Please. They don’t tease a new show by accident, or on the hopes alone. They also don’t increment the Enterprise letter without some solid buy-in from the network. Legacy is happening.

I’m still salty that we never got an epic Borg Vs. Jorg battle at the end of S3. They totally wasted whatever it was they were trying to set up with Jurati at the end of season 2.

Do musicians not buy the music that they want to listen to? Should they be allowed to torrent any MP3 they want just because they say it’s for their instrument learning?
I mean I’d be all for it, but that’s not what these very same corporations (including Microsoft when it comes to software) wanted back during Napster times. Now they want a separate set of rules just for themselves. No.

It’s a glorified autocomplete.
- Comment on OpenAI says it’s “impossible” to create useful AI models without copyrighted material 10 months ago:
Agreed on both counts… Except Microsoft sings a different tune when their software is being “stolen” in the exact same way. They want to have it both ways - calling us pirates when we copy their software, but it’s “without merit” when they do it. Fuck’em! Let them play by the same rules they want everyone else to play.
- Comment on When should I start showing someone new to Trek new shows? 10 months ago:
I’d recommend release order because there are callbacks and crossovers, cameos, etc. that tie these shows together. You could watch the in any order, but you’d get more enjoyment out of picking up all the references and easter eggs. So, TOS -> (maybe TAS) -> movies 1 through 5 -> TNG -> movie 6 -> DS9 -> VOY -> movies 7 through 9 -> ENT. Then modern stuff like DSC, SNW, PIC, Prodigy, and LD.
That said, there’s no need to watch every single episode of every show. Back on Reddit there were guides of “essential” episodes for each season of every series. Here’s one for TNG. I’m sure you could find this for other shows too.

First off, I want very much for Lower Decks and Prodigy to continue.
That said, I would love to see Paramount+ crash and burn to the fucking ground, taking all the execs and bean counters down with it. Same with HBO Max, or Plus, or Minus, or whatever the fuck they rebranded to this week. Let them ALL fail and be sold for pennies on the dollar so that someone with half a brain can pick up the pieces.

- Comment on Amazon To Start Running Ads In Prime Video Series & Movies, Will Launch Ad-Free Tier For Extra Fee 1 year ago:
The Internet and streaming services are fucking lazy and just insert ads every X seconds or whatever, which can often lead to an ad being played mid fucking sentence.
That is not laziness. This is a typical dark pattern, designed that way on purpose to annoy you into paying.
Youtube (without ad blockers) is the absolute worst at this, as it seems to insert mid roll ads specifically to disrupt the video.
