Honestly I’m over the silly episodes. One musical episode in an entire season? Hilarious and a ton of fun. 5 lame “what if” scenarios in one season with only 2 or so that feel like trek? Getting annoying.

I agree that this season has done more “genre play” than I’m happy with, but I don’t have the impression that this will be a silly episode - it just has a silly gag.

It would make a lot of people annoyed, and open up a huge number of issues with trying to match up timelines, but… I would watch a crossover. I would probably enjoy it too, as long as they had a good story to tell with it! I would think it would be best done as a streaming movie or something though.

There are many ways they could make it match, they could pass it as a parallel universe somehow, or maybe make some god from the pantheon of discord together with some Q bridge the worlds.
I always found quite funny how Doctor Who’s universe is much darker than Star Trek. Doctor Who’s universe is more akin to Star Trek’s mirror universe where are human empires that enslave smaller planets, while on Star Trek there’s the federation and all.

I’m only a casual Who fan, catching up on it sporadically every so often… does it actually have a cohesive view of the future? It’s hard to imagine that over decades of stories popping randomly throughout time they’ve maintained a intelligible future chronology. I assume fans have collated every single reference and tried to massage them together, but does it actually hold up at all?

They could definitely figure out a way to make it work! It could be pretty fun, and I would at least have a big grin on my face when I first saw the TARDIS on the Enterprise bridge!
And yes, I’ve noticed that too. The world of Doctor Who wouldn’t be a great place to live compared to Star Trek, at least from what we’ve been shown. Even the tone of the episodes is often darker, there are quite a few classic and modern episodes that are just family friendly horror. Trek has done some of that over the years, but it seems Who leans into it more, or at least I notice it more!
