nothing to see here, just a sitting US president launching new companies and using the power of the office to promote his new companies.

        the fat fuck

plz try to criticize our fascist leaders without body-shaming. it’s not a good look on you.

nobody did a fucking thing, so this is a bridge too far now or what ?

I mean, nobody in this community was happy about the Trumpcoin or any of the other previous self-promotion attempts, either. What were we supposed to do?

The yanks are still too comfortable to do anything about the blatant fascism rising in their country. Rich right wingers have pulled off the amazing feat of keeping people happy with bread and circuses and convincing them to look at the evil foreigners whilst they’re robbed blind. It’s happening in other democracies as well.

I fear the US is just the beginning. The EU is growing more right wing and the UK is looking at giving Nigel Farage total power in 3 years time. Forecast does not look too good.

And it’s an AI search that I’m sure will provide accurate and reliable information.

Hmm I wonder what kind of information “Truth search” will be showing…?

It probably just asks Grok in the background using the full “you are MechHilter” prompt.

…results that are complicated and intricate leaving users bewildered.

Perplexity is certainly an interesting choice for a company name. Coincidence perhaps?

Hope someone manages to get the system prompt from this thing, want to see what absolutely deranged bullshit they put there.

There is a cool self-hosted version of Perplexity out there now, called Perplexica. It can be configured to use Ollama (local inferencing) and your own, self-hosted SearXNG instance to do the actual search and collation.

I have been using it for a week and it really works.

I’m sorry, but the problems with modern-day LLMs and GenAI run far deeper than “who hosts it.”

If you say so. I'm just trying to be helpful instead of offering scare quotes.

According to the announcement, “the mission of Trump Media is to end Big Tech’s assault on free speech by opening up the Internet and giving people their voices back.” Which is a funny thing to put in an announcement about Trump partnering with a company whose investors include Jeff Bezos, Nvidia, and the former CEO of GitHub.

Ah yes, the freeze peach absolutist who is also the president that has attacked free speech the most in my lifetime wants to stop “Big Tech’s assault” by… creating an AI chatbot.

Genius. Never would have thought to do that myself. In fact, even if I did think to do it, I never would have done it, assuming my goals were the stated goals.
