Capcom spent 2 years trying to get permission to use Toshiro Mifune's likeness in Onimusha: Way of the Sword

Poor guys: so many problems to please so few people. The very concept of using real actors’ faces in the games is buffing to me. From my standpoint games have a unique chance to get rid of actors and all collateral problems. But no, companies are still wasting money to have a famous face on the poster.
Fun fact: I never ever even heard the name Toshiro Mifune.

I just can't… why do people wear ignorance as a badge of honor nowadays?

he’s arguably the biggest Japanese film actor of all time.

You probably will be familiar with his face if you have seen any of the somewhat older samurai movies. Probably better known in Asia than outside of it though.

Might know the face, yes. But the name doesn’t ring a bell.

You do not need them, yes, but I think it’s always fun to recognize people in games like Like a Dragon.
That aside, it’s always been a thing in Onimusha. It wouldn’t be a proper revival of the IP without one of their biggest USP back then.
