Meta will definitely not be collecting and selling on any more data about users of the ad-free version. We know this because of their spotless track record in privacy and safely implementing algorithms which has, in turn, made them one of the most trusted and trustable companies in the world.

Look, they pinky-promised, you can’t really expect them to use their own pinkies for that though.

Think I would rather just not use it at all tbh

I mean, that should be the default for everyone, at all times regardless of whether they want to charge you for access. It’s a garbage company run by garbage people and has done more harm to humanity than could ever be measured.

They pulled the same trick in EU, setting the price depending on how many profiles you have . For me, with a Facebook profile and a few instagram profiles, i had to pay approximately what two Netflix subs cost, a month!

Nobody felt that this was worth it so they just accepted tracking and targeted ads (before this there was an option to turn off targeted ads)

This was deemed illegal though and i am not sure where in this process we’re at now

A prime example of malicious compliance.
