    Honestly this is the kind of conversation I wish i had with my folks when I was younger. OP, you’re the kid’s parent, you’re supposed to see the bigger picture than looking “authoritarian” in the moment.

  Get the kid a psych and more importantly a neuropsych eval. Assuming nothing is atypical and they are just a kid, the psych will help them.

  OP, i wanna see the whole conversation before they explode, i feels like there’s a lot more story to that.

  Also yeah they got a point, you’re a parent, the lack of care toward your kid’s future is also a bad parenting.
