  -> 1 pass head shave and 2 around the goatee. Nice smooth head shave, but very rough on the face today - lots of weepers and redness.

  Today’s shave is a reminder that I shouldn’t be too cocky with guarded blades. After yesterday’s shave with the KAI went pretty well, I thought that I could already ramp up to a 2-pass shave. I was wrong. It felt rough, it was especially awful around my neck and I got dozens of weepers. My face is still red and aching. Probably caused by lack of technique and recklessness. I know some scoff at alum, but today I was really grateful for owning that Osma block…

  I guess my face will need a day of rest tomorrow. Perhaps I should ease back into that with some mild safety razor shaves between the KAI usage. Well, you live and learn 🤷🏻‍♂️

  Great shave. This soap base is wonderful. Easy to load, easy to hydrate, super slick, super wet.

  This blade is still very sharp at 6 uses. I’ve gotten weepers every shave with it so far. Otherwise the shaves are ultra comfortable.

  Another AC shavette that I have much neglected last lear – the Tedalus. I bought it in times when Tedalus didn’t target the billionaire class, and it is a very well-done razor, even though I am not a huge fan of their magnet-based blade clamping system.

  • Lather: Catie’s Bubbles – Blugère

  • Fragrance: Catie’s Bubbles – Blugère

  This marks my 600th straight razor shave, and 712th open blade shave. I’ve missed all the previous milestone-y numbers, but randomly happened to check yesterday and saw that I was at 599 shave. It’s been a strangely satisfying journey in this side tunnel of the rabbit hole that started with the introduction of the Hardware Scavenger Hunt during the 2022 Lather Games. I own a few lovely straight razors by now, but this Friodur 14 is still my favourite. Gentle, and heavy, a wonderful combination.

  Blugère is a wonderful scent, just so enjoyable. Wonderful for this Sunday morning shave. And this soap base is a pleasure to use.
