This thought is a reliable magical incantation provoking weapers

Duodi 22 Nivôse an 234 de la Révolution, jour de Sel
- Brush: MRED/Le Père Lucien 26mm Badger
- Razor: River Razors Kamisori (2)
- Lather: Martin de Candre Absinthe
- Postshave: Naissance 702 Witch Hazel
- Postshave: Epsilon Blue Mediterranean
- Postshave: Nivea After Shave Balm
I brought back the River Razors kamisori, and I got a very close shave with it today (the extremely slick Martin de Candre base certainly helped). I will bring it back into my regular rotation (after the accident)! Absinthe is a nice and unobtrusive scent – nothing to write home about, but good and fresh. And the badger brush is also a very good experience - the only issue is that it fits only with difficulty into my mug for getting more water.
Have a good day!

Décadi 20 Nivôse an 234 de la Révolution, jour de Van
- Preshave: Proraso White Preshave
- Brush: Chisel & Hound Blaireau de la République with 24mm G5 Synthetic
- Razor: River Razors Kamisori (1)
- Lather: Le Père Lucien Ébène
- Postshave: Naissance 702 Witch Hazel
- Postshave: Le Père Lucien Ébène Après-rasage
- Postshave: Nivea After Shave Balm
After last year’s accident, I had more or less stopped using the River Razors Kamisori. I thought I should give it a try. I now remember why I liked it so much – buttery sound, nice behavior. But the wife was in an (entirely unannounced) hurry this morning, getting up earlier than she used to the rest of the week, which cut a bit the enjoyment.
This was also the first try of the Ébène line by Le Père Lucien. A very nice scent. They say:
Fragrances: Elegant, fresh, woody.
Top notes: Bergamot, Palmarosa
Heart notes: Frangipani, Saffron, Cypress
Base notes: Tonka bean, Wood and resin
The fragrance of this shaving soap is composed of a refined blend of essential oils and natural extracts, creating a unique, elegant, and luminous sillage.
It is indeed a very nice scent, even though I could not enjoy it as long as I would have wanted 😒
But looking forward to using it more.

Octidi 18 Nivôse an 234 de la Révolution, jour de Pierre à chaux
- Preshave: Proraso White Preshave
- Brush: Yaqi 26mm Synthetic Bingcha (Iced Tea)
- Razor: Ertan Süer L’Ours Russe (7/8th) (5)
- Lather: Abbate y La Mantia Koké
- Postshave: Naissance 702 Witch Hazel
- Postshave: Epsilon Blue Mediterranean
- Postshave: Nivea After Shave Balm
A morning shave today, living the dream. It is snowing heavily outside, and winter is back. This is my second use of Koké, and I kind of start to get it. It probably is not for everyone, but it is really a nice composition. Well done, @djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social! The old-school stank of epsilon is not a bad complement to the soap, but it might be worth to look for the matching aftershaves in sales.
Second time I dropped the Bingcha brush. This thing is really slippery when wet.
Have a good day!

Persons who are not adepts in the handling of razors are apt to complain that their razors do not shave well, and are liable to condemn a good one, when the fault lies not in the razor, but in the unskilfil use of it
Major red flag right there 👀
This reads for me like: our product is shite, but do not blame us!

I misjudged the scoop; I could have gotten two shaves out of this.
This is always tricky: take too little, and get two shitty shaves and regrets; take too much, and live with good memories and regrets. In case of doubt, I’d rather take too much than too little.

Tabac is a very nice soap, and I also got back to it after a couple of years not using it.
I take it that you still have the tallow version? Reactions to the vegan reformulation were a bit mixed (though generally good).

What soap, brush and razor are you using?
Having a good, wet lather helps. I’m sensitive to frag burn, so I avoid manufacturers like Ariana & Evans or TFS who have a heavy hand with scenting. My skin is dry, and I try to hydrate after shaving.

A bit of diversity is fun! And if I have the time, I prefer a straight - but I don’t always have the time, and I also prohibited the use of a straight when I’m too tired.

I have soaps with 0 uses - they are in my shave-den database/org-mode table, but don’t show up in the log.

Happy new year to all!
I thought it would be a good omen to start the new year en rose, but I somehow didn’t quite get the dosis right. The result was underwhelming and runny, though very slick.
Have a good day!

Categories, schmategories! What about
- vintage
- modern croap
- modern triple milled
- standard average artisan soap (in the consistence sense, not quality)
- etc. (the most important category, as always)

- Lather: Woolly Wash Soapery Night at the Pub
- Postshave: Naissance 702 Witch Hazel
- Postshave: TFS Witch Hazel & Oak
- Postshave: Nivea After Shave Balm
This is the December installment of the Buena Vista Wetshaving Social Club. The scent was bay-rummy to me, and seemed highly appropriate for this time of the year. The lather did not explode in the bowl as other US-artisan soaps use to do, but it produced a serviceable lather. I was asthonished that the second ingredient was beer 🍻
I used for the first time the asymmetric razor – I used it like it was a standard symmetric one, and that was probably not a good idea. I will have to check how such razors are supposed to be used, when you shave yourself.
Happy Christmas to everybody!
