This is one of my favorites - and even if I don’t use it, I like the esthetics of the 'arber’s notch.

Abbate y La Mantia – Koké
A whole adventure is waiting for you.
TOP NOTES: Bergamot, Pimpinella, Rhubarb
HEART NOTES: Ginger, Animal Notes, White Pear
BASE NOTES: Vine Leaves, Tahitian Vanilla, Guaiac Wood
According to AYLM it is elegant, fresh, balsamic.
I described it as smelling like a wild animal in an abandoned garden. @djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social’s wife likened it to a rotten chewing gum.

Décadi 10 Frimaire an 234 de la Révolution, jour de Pioche
- Preshave: Proraso White Preshave
- Brush: Yaqi 26mm Synthetic Bingcha (Iced Tea)
- Razor: Thiers-Issard 188 7/8 ‘Coq et Renard’ (2)
- Lather: Saponificio Varesino Opuntia
- Postshave: Naissance 702 Witch Hazel
- Postshave: Saponifico Varesino Opuntia
- Postshave: Nivea After Shave Balm
First shave with Opuntia. The scent is very slight, but this may be related with me current level of having a cold. The performance of the base is very good as usual with SV soaps. The aftershave is very gelly, and I probably should put the razor back on the stones.
Have a good day!

I’d rather go for ‘wild animal in an abandoned garden’

Octidi 8 Frimaire an 234 de la Révolution, jour de Miel
- Brush: Yaqi 26mm Synthetic Bingcha (Iced Tea)
- Razor: Star 1912 Type Razor
- Blade: Personna GEM PTFE (29)
- Lather: Abbate y La Mantia Koké
- Postshave: Naissance 702 Witch Hazel
- Postshave: Epsilon Blue Mediterranean
- Postshave: Nivea After Shave Balm
This is my first shave with Koké, and as I said, the scent is interesting. Not interesting bad or interesting good, but interesting interesting. According to them:
TOP NOTES: Bergamot, Pimpinella, Rhubarb
HEART NOTES: Ginger, Animal Notes, White Pear
BASE NOTES: Vine Leaves, Tahitian Vanilla, Guaiac Wood
I get the rhubarb and the animal notes, and there is also something woody about it. But I don’t really know for the moment what to think of this.
This was also the first time I used their new hard soap base. I managed to overload, and this is probably the first time ever this has happened to me with AYLM. My face feels great (as always with their soaps).
While I meditate on the scent notes, have a nice evening!

Quintidi 5 Frimaire an 234 de la Révolution, jour de Cochon: Buena Vista
- Brush: Yaqi 26mm Synthetic Bingcha (Iced Tea)
- Razor: Thiers Issard Le Grelot (2)
- Lather: Fanzine Saponifications Caravaggio
- Postshave: Naissance 702 Witch Hazel
- Postshave: Epsilon Blue Mediterranean
- Postshave: Nivea After Shave Balm
The Buena Vista Wetshaving Social Club has reconvened, this time with a soap provided by Walden. The smush lathered up very nicely, and the scent is also very pleasant.
I got the impression that this scent belongs to the Midnight Stag/Valley of Ashes family. It is not the proletarian uncle who is covered in motor oil and shows his butt crack whenever he bows down; it is not the sophisticated librarian who spends his evenings in a leather armchair reading. Here, I rather see the young man who just bought a leather jacket, and is on his way to the bar.
A very good first impression!
Have a good day!

Duodi 2 Frimaire an 234 de la Révolution, jour de Turneps
- Preshave: Proraso White Preshave
- Brush: Semogue C3 Galahad Horse 🐎
- Razor: Thiers Issard Le Grelot (1)
- Lather: Saponificio Varesino Tundra Artica
- Postshave: Naissance 702 Witch Hazel
- Postshave: TFS Witch Hazel & Oak
- Postshave: Nivea After Shave Balm
I rehoned this razor today, and maybe not aggressively enough. Because this is such a pretty razor, and because it cut the packing peanut without any issues when I got it, I didn’t check the geometry. However, it turns out that it has a very slight wobble in it. As per the advice by @gcgallant@sub.wetshaving.social, I tried to round off the La Lune slurry stone. Turns out that it takes quite some work rounding off a hard finishing stone. I god impatient and ended it maybe prematurely, but it worked and it produced a slurry without visible scratch marks.
And SV Tundra Artica is great when it’s cold outside.
Have a good day!

Octidi 28 Brumaire an 234 de la Révolution, jour de Coing
- Preshave: Proraso White Preshave
- Brush: Chisel & Hound Blaireau de la République with 24mm G5 Synthetic
- Razor: Puma 100 (1)
- Lather: Le Père Lucien Rose de Pushkar
- Postshave: Naissance 702 Witch Hazel
- Postshave: Tabac Original After Shave Lotion
- Postshave: Nivea After Shave Balm
Somehow, I got the idea of using a rose-scented soap today. I don’t have the matching aftershave, so I wondered: roses are flowers, which aftershave is floral? Yes, Tabac. I was apprehensive of the result, but it doesn’t match too badly. However, it doesn’t leave much of the more delicate rose-scent lingering around.
Have a good night!
