This was a superlative shave. Stirling’s sheep tallow base is excellent, and I pretty much always get a close shave with the MMOC. I’m tempted to use this razor for AA but have concerns about packing it on my bike for a couple of weeks. Seems like a three piece would work better for that, we’ll see.

The Buena Vista Wetshaving Club is back after a month’s hiatus for LG. This month we’re shaving with CGC Irving Park, a dupe of Rive Gauche by Yves Saint Laurent.
This gave an excellent lather and is a pleasant scent, though my nose had a hard time identifying the listed notes. I got some vetiver, and a general earthiness, but that was mostly it apart from a general “nice” smell. Thanks @BossHoggins10@sub.wetshaving.social for sending around the generous smush!
Also my first shave with the Fatip slant. It shaves much better than the only other slant I’ve tried (a shitty and overly aggressive Yaqi), though I’m not yet convinced that it does a better job than my other DEs. Looking forward to spending more time with it.

For what it’s worth, I’d probably base the decision on which razor I would be willing to risk bringing on a trip.
The Masonic sounds like a one-of-one razor, would be a shame to lose it!

First shave with this passaround brush from u/KerblimeySkal. It’s a great boar brush, very similar to my Omega 10048 but lofted much lower.
I especially like how small the brush handle is. It makes it much easier to do a “barber pinch” at the base of the knot, which really helps with these knots in my experience.
Keeping it light on the fragrance this morning because of a dentist appointment (dentist --). I’ll probably wear Lavender, Interrupted this afternoon.

Today is my last day at my job! I’m looking forward to some change, even though I don’t have anything else lined up yet.
I’ve also finalized a bike tour in a couple of weeks, starting in Astoria, OR, and following the coast back down to the SF Bay Area.
I did the same route in October of 2018 (from Vancouver to LA) and it was incredible. This time I’m doing the whole trip solo and earlier in the summer. It should take me just about two weeks, depending on my pace.

Theme: Roam Two is currently my favorite soap. It’s another that brings me back to living in New Mexico. Especially the juniper that comes through more in the splash and frag. It’s the only set I have backups for, and I want to grab another bottle of the EdT at some point.

If I’m being honest with myself, the Omega 10048 is my favorite brush. It’s probably the cheapest brush I own, and the handle is super light and hollow, but it lathers amazingly for me. The tips keep getting softer, and the knot itself holds on to the perfect amount of water. It’s like my “old pair of jeans” brush: reliable, comfortable, easy.
For a razor, it was a toss-up between the CF Legacy and the MMOC. I ultimately went with the Legacy because I find it gives an efficient shave while also being much more comfortable. This razor does well with any blade that I give it, but it performs especially well with these Personna blades. I’m very glad to have this in my den.
$SELFCARE - I took my time with my shave this evening; it was the perfect way to wind down at the end of the day. Ultimately, that’s why I got into this hobby in the first place. It’s been so good for me to have a little daily window of self-care every day. I’m very grateful for it.
$FOF - This was my only dickhold all month, and I’m not at all ashamed. Roam Two really is a journey from the sweet grass and black currant in the soap to the leather, juniper, ginger, tobacco, sage, and pepper in the splash and EdT. The combination perfectly paints, for me, the American high desert. Truly amazing.
