June 6th, 2025: Shaving in the Rain
- Brush: Semogue - Owners Club 24mm Boar $WOODEN
- Razor: Gillette - Super Speed Black Tip $ATOMICAGE
- Blade: Wizamet Super Iridium (2)
- Lather: Wholly Kaw - Tempest - Soap
- Post Shave: Chiseled Face - Summer Storm - Aftershave
- Fragrance: Mäurer & Wirtz - SIR Irisch Moos - EdT
$discord
Theme justification: Tempest and Summer Storm are both obvious petrichor/rain scents. Between the two, I prefer Summer Storm by a decent margin. CF is needed elsewhere on my calendar though, and the WK base gave a great lather.
Daily challenge: I was incredibly busy with work and family life today, so I did not shave outside. I either had enough time to go for a run or to head somewhere to shave. I went for the run, which I think was the healthier decision. #NORAGRETS $SELFCARE
FOF - The dirt, petrichor, and rain from Tempest and Summer Storm faded into the mossy-green Irisch Moos in a surprisingly natural way. Original Irisch Moos soap or cream is definitely something I’m keeping an eye out for. I just love this scent.

June 5th, 2025: I Want To Be The Very Zest
- Brush: AP Shave Co. - Silksmoke Synthetic
- Razor: GEM - Micromatic Clog-Pruf
- Blade: Personna GEM PTFE (5)
- Lather: Maggard Razors - Limes & Bergamot - Soap
- Post Shave: Fine - Italian Citrus - Aftershave
- Fragrance: Acqua di Parma - Blue Mediterraneo - Fico di Amalfi - EdT
$discord
Theme justification: Limes, bergamot, Italian citrus, and the delicate citrus + fig of AdP Fico di Amalfi. Citrus shines throughout. $FOF
Daily challenge: I think I saw one or two folks with the same idea, but my proposed theme is “Drought Day” (“Water Shortage Wednesday?” “Soy Boy Saturday?”) – make your lather with anything but water.
This evening, to conserve water, I made my lather with 365 Brands soy milk instead of water. As a coastal elite in California, I’m obligated to shop at Whole Foods while also complaining about how Amazon is ruining America. To complain about DOGE while also driving a Tesla. Virtues, signals, and all that jazz.
Soy milk made an alright, but thick, lather. I’ve never had my Clog-Pruf clog up with hair and soap before. I guess they weren’t thinking of us Soy Boys when they designed this razor, smh my head.
Today I got out for an early run before work and managed to keep an easy pace throughout. Historically, it’s difficult for me to run slowly, even though I know it’s good for my recovery and for building endurance. The legs just want to go fast. I’m glad I did, because the rest of the day was very busy and exhausting. $SELFCARE

June 4th, 2025: Complementary Non-Dickhole Day
- Brush: Chisel & Hound “Spice Lily” - TurnNShave Tuxedo 26mm Synthetic $COMPOSITE $FRANKENBRUSH
- Razor: Merkur - 34C $ZAMAC
- Blade: Astra Green (1)
- Lather: HAGS - Valley of Abyss - Soap
- Post Shave: Talent Soap Factory - Wallflower - Aftershave
- Post Shave: Stirling - Glacial Unscented - Balm
- Fragrance: Barrister and Mann - Lavender, Interrupted - EdT
Theme Justification: None of these products are from the same line, but all complement each other quite well. The single anisic lavender note from HAGS Valley of Abyss sets up a nice contrast with the bright, floral Wallflower splash. Lavender, Interrupted finishes out the progression with a warm, complex, and beautifully comforting glow. It truly is a great evening scent that I’d recommend everyone try at least once. $FOF
Challenge: I didn’t think I’d be able to pull it off, but I eventually convinced my wife to shave my face with her non-dominant (left) hand. We edited the video for brevity, but some of her comments are priceless and had to be left in. She was only up for the WTG pass, so I finished my last two passes with my non-dominant (left) hand.
Self care: Today was a rest day from running, so I spent time this afternoon doing some hip strengthening exercises and stretching. It’s crucial to maintain general conditioning and mobility to prevent injury, especially as I’ve grown older. $SELFCARE

June 3rd, 2025: Why is the Rum Gone?
- Brush: Summer Break Soaps “Elyria” - TurnNShave v9 Tip 28mm Badger $TWOBAND
- Razor: Gillette - Slim Adjustable (L4, 1966) $ADJUSTABLE $SPACEAGE
- Blade: Wizamet Super Iridium (1)
- Lather: Soap Commander - Endurance - Soap
- Osma: Osma - Osma
- Post Shave: Barrister and Mann - Reserve Spice - Aftershave
- Fragrance: Spearhead Shaving Company - Seaforth! Leather - EdT
$discord
Theme justification: It’s an A-tier Old Spice dupe, followed by another A-tier Old Spice dupe. No other justification needed.
Daily challenge: I used Osma after my shave today. It was fine. I used to use this after shave because of “conventional wisdom,” but I’ve honestly not noticed a difference in my results since I stopped. It’s still nice to keep around for any shaves where I have knicks or weepers that need help closing. Though honestly, a styptic pencil is a much better tool for that job.
$SELFCARE – This morning I got out pretty early for some speed intervals at a local track. I’m training for a half marathon this fall and have been ramping up with a new running course. I also went to therapy today. More people should go to therapy. We all inherit so much baggage and so many thought patterns that we rarely (if ever) examine. Noticing some of these thought patterns and being honest with myself about how I got them and what they mean has been a game-changer for me over the last several years.
FOF – Endurance into Reserve Spice is a gimme – just two solid takes on the classic Old Spice scent layered on top of one another. Seaforth! Leather is where it gets interesting. The bright coriander and West Indies Bay play nicely with the spicy, sophisticated Old Spice vibe. The woody cedar and smooth leather carry the feeling through to an exceptionally relaxing and refined place. This was an excellent scent-scape to wind down my day with.
Onwards and upwards!

June 2nd, 2025: New to You
- Brush: AP Shave Co. - Gelousy (A3) 28mm Badger $SHD
- Razor: Rolls $STAINLESSLESS $FOREVERSAFETY
- Lather: Taconic Shave - Tequila Lime - Soap
- Post Shave: Noble Otter - Northern Elixir - Aftershave
- Fragrance: Chanel - ALLURE HOMME - EdT
$discord
Everything in this shave is new to me.
Razor: The Rolls razor, on loan from u/Tetriside. I was more than a little apprehensive about using this after everything I’ve heard about these razors. I stropped the hell out of the blade before the shave and honestly had pretty great results. Three passes, very smooth everywhere except right under my chin. I doubt I’d shave with this again, but I can’t really complain.
Brush: My first use of a Gelousy knot, sold to me for less than it should’ve been by u/jwoods23. What a guy! The knot is set pretty high and was floppy and soft. Fortunately, I like that!
Post/Fragrance: Northern Elixir was part of a lot I bought on the Discord last month. Nice scent, but I think I might be getting over cooling agents in soaps and splashes. It just doesn’t do much for me. ALLURE HOMME (you have to type it in all caps or the Chanel Police will get you) is alright. Honestly feels like it’s in the mall frag category, but I enjoy it well enough. It was a sample thrown in with another Chanel decant I bought many months ago.
$FOF – starting fresh and zesty with the tequila lime soap, moving to the cooling, herbal complexity of the aftershave, then finishing with the more sophisticated, warm spiciness of the cologne. This was a surprisingly nice combination of scents that progressed much better than expected.

This shave took me to a nice restaurant at the end of an evening out. A good cup of coffee with a splash of whiskey. A nice, spiced banana cake for dessert, with cinnamon, vanilla, and a hint of pipe tobacco rounding out the night.
I don’t normally gravitate toward gourmand scents, but this combination was a winner for sure.
I used this RDC handle in tribute to u/priusaurus. Hey may come across as arrogant when he’s competing, but deep down he’s a kind and welcoming guy. It’s been awesome watching him develop his skills as a brushmaker. Unfortunately, though he was the two-time LG champion, he cannot call himself the World’s Strongest Shaver. Maybe next year ,bud.
$SHD justification: Milton calls out on his Etsy page that this is the highest density boar knot he was able to find.

For this month’s meeting of the BVWSC we shaved with APR Raconteur. This is my first use of this soap, and I really enjoyed it. It’s definitely in the neighborhood of Midnight Stag, but is a more subtle and warm leather. Nowhere near as sharp to my nose.
As much as I enjoy it, I’m sure this scent would earn a veto from Mrs. snoot. Thanks, walden, for sending smushes for us all this month!
