Yep, almost certainly. When I switched to the MMOC the lather performed great.

Sunday, April 27, 2025
- Brush: Zenith/Stirling - 510SE-XL 31mm boar
- Razor: Koraat - Moarteen (15/16", full hollow) (2)
- Razor: GEM - MMOC (first gen, 1930-1932)
- Blade: Personna - GEM PTFE (12)
- Lather: Barrister and Mann - Lavanille
- Post Shave: Barrister and Mann - Lavanille Aftershave splash
- Post Shave: Stirling - Glacial Unscented Aftershave balm
- Fragrance: Barrister and Mann - Lavender, Interrupted EdT
Still learning what the hell I’m doing with this straight. Finished off with the MMOC since I need a smooth finish for work tomorrow. I’m not sure if it’s my lather or my angle, but the first two passes (WTG, XTG) felt pretty tuggy with the straight.
Lavanille is always lovely to shave with.

What passes are you doing for your straight shaves right now?
- Comment on Saturday SOTD Thread, April 26th, 2025 (#683) 1 day ago:
- Brush: Chisel & Hound Malachite - Oumo Rorschach 26mm badger
- Razor: Koraat – Moarteen (15/16", full hollow) (1)
- Lather: Stirling - I, Rich Moose
- Post: Stirling - I, Rich Moose Aftershave splash
- Post: Ginger’s Garden - Unscented Aftershave balm (+menthol)
- Frag: SIR - Irisch Moos EdT
Today was my first shave with the Moarteen, as well as my first ever straight razor shave. Talk about a different skill!
The shave went mostly fine. I only did WTG + XTG on my face and WTG + WTG on my neck. Unsurprisingly, I’m not as close as I usually am after a safety razor shave, especially under my chin, but there’s practically no irritation. I reopened a cut from a previous shave and nicked myself on a mole near my jawline, but otherwise, no blood!
Probably the most difficult part of this shave was figuring out how to hold the razor for different parts of the shave. I have no intuition for how the way I’m holding the razor will translate to my face (if that makes sense). I’m definitely looking forward to developing that intuition and just some comfort with the open blade.
Also my first shave with this brush and soap. The Rorschach knot has a nice scrub to it, without being poky. Very good density. Thanks u/wallygator88 for the passaround!
I, Rich Moose smells great and performed just as well as Stirling always does. Thanks, u/jwoods23, for the smush. It seems this frag doesn’t burn my face, so I’m in for the Sheep Moos!

Very cool!
FWIW you could probably put something like Auth0, workOS, or something similar in front of the individual frontends.
I’m sure you’d stay well within their free tier and should be pretty straightforward to implement.

Thanks for the extra history and context behind SW’s involvement with and participation in the community.
They were mostly absent in the time since I’ve started wetshaving. I’m sad to see them go, but I’m at least glad to have gotten the opportunity to use their stuff.

Very good results with a mediocre-but-fine razor.
I’ve really been impressed by this brush. It’s lower density than the other synths I have, but still lathers like a champ.

More water more soap!
I have started to pick up on more of the cedarwood and black pepper as I’ve used the soap more. It’s really a great scent.

Quick evening shave after a long flight. These razors kind of suck, but they get the job done well enough.

I actually picked it up off @BossHoggins10@sub.wetshaving.social a while back. It was my first “nice” badger knot. :)

Ubrique is good stuff.
Moarteen got here this morning. Surprisingly, it arrived before the strop that I ordered. Unfortunately, that means I won’t try it out until next weekend since I’ll be away this week for work.
Have a great Saturday!

Fun! I’m looking forward to getting mine, although it seems it will arrive while I’m on a work trip, so I’ll need to wait another week to try it out.
How have you found the adjustment to SR technique compared to SE/DE razors?

Thursday, April 17, 2025: Theme Thursday
- Brush: Rad Dinosaur Creations “Nebulagance” - TurnNShave Quartermoon 26mm synthetic
- Razor: Eldrormr Industries - MM24
- Blade: Accuforge - GEM Microcoat (8)
- Lather: Martin de Candre - Fougère
- Post Shave: Barrister and Mann - Fougère Angelique Aftershave Splash
- Post Shave: Stirling - Glacial Unscented Aftershave balm
- Fragrance: Barrister and Mann - Fougère Aromatique EdT
On theme with some ferny goodness. This sample of MdC Fougère was given to me by Mr. Frankie with only 4 fingers (along with lots of other goodies) when he sent me the half tub of Absinthe that we split.
It’s a real pleasure to shave with, and the scent is balanced perfectly. I’m still impressed by how little soap I need to get a good lather from the MdC base. It’s pretty wild.
Have a good one y’all, almost to the weekend.

Wednesday, April 16, 2025: BVWSC - Phantom of Kyiv
- Brush: Chisel & Hound “Spice Lily” - TurnNShave Tuxedo 26mm synthetic
- Razor: Eldrormr Industries - MM24
- Blade: Accuforge - GEM Microcoat (7)
- Lather: Areffa Soap - Phantom of Kyiv
- Post Shave: Noble Otter - Lonestar Aftershave splash
- Post Shave: Ginger’s Garden - Unscented Aftershave balm (+ menthol)
- Fragrance: Spearhead Shaving Company - Leather EdT
We’re shaving with Phantom of Kyiv for April’s BVWSC courtesy of sahenders (thanks for the smush!).
A nice mild scent, I get hints of lemon, sage, and a bit of pine. It’s difficult to pull out individual notes though since it’s so well blended. The tallow base performed excellently and took as much water as I wanted to give it. My only complaint is that we didn’t get to try the Areffa bear tallow base. :)
Lonestar into Leather was a perfect fit.
Have a good day y’all!
