  I don't think that's unpopular, it's a goal eventually

  Groups in ActivityPub are underspecified and I disagree with Lemmy's interpretation so far, since I don't think it makes sense for compatibility with non-group software

    I don't know how the specs work under the hood but the implementation works way better both with other nodes and other software like Pleroma

    I don't know that it is, I'm not sure they have such a broad interpretation of Federation

  Federation should just federate period. Lemmy is in this case the odd man out, with a product that doesn't federate with anyone as far as I know. Lotide by contrast federates with pretty much everything.
