I received a mail today from Le Père Lucien (4 shaving soaps and an after-shave; I will not be able to kill 4 soaps this year, I’m afraid…), and I also got a smush of his Traditionnel soap. So why not start with this one? First impressions: It provides a good and protective lather, but the smell reminded me disturbingly of a Bouquet Garni that I would put into soup.
Official scent notes: Lavender, eucalyptus, thyme, rosmary
~Now that I see it, I should have listened to Scarborough Fair by Simon & Garfunkel while shaving.~
Excellent shave with the 1912.
Have a good evening!

Razor: Dovo Facharbeit 6/8" Full Hollow Square Point
Lather: Wholly Kaw - King of Oud - Soap
Aftershave: Wholly Kaw - King of Oud - Aftershave
Fragrance: Creed - Royal Oud
Talc: Yardley Classic
2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.
Temps in the mid-Atlantic were well below freezing this morning. I’m going to pass on the Shackleton experience; though, it is an amazing story.
I have seen that King of Oud is a dupe of Creed Royal Oud so I bought a decant of Royal Oud. This was my first try at the KoO/Royal Oud combo. Royal Oud may be my new favorite Creed fragrance. KoO doesn’t bring the same complexity, as you would expect. I’ll need to spend more time to learn how KoO was intended to complement Royal Oud (if indeed it is a dupe).
I really enjoyed the synthetic edge on this Facharbeit.

This one was done on the Shapton Glass stones. The edge passed sharpness tests but did not look great under the microscope. Shaves just fine. It was last honed in 4/2024 so I may do a refresh on the 5k/10k Naniwa Advance. I liked that edge on the Friodur 14 during August – finished with trailing edge strokes, stropped to encourage a slight convex apex, then refined on a 0.75 micron diamond emulsion strop. (\text{Cr}{\text{2}}\text{O}{\text{3}}) paste on linen would work just as well.
