  As many of you know my wife and I are expecting our first child. We are in the “home renovations” phase of pregnancy where we decide to redo the entire house in the final weeks before birth.

  Anywho, I shaved because I hadn’t for awhile because all I do is home renovations. It was great because 3 Scots is great. Again, so happy I picked this up during the drop.

  This is my first shave with The Rambler. It’s a bit sweeter than I expected, but it still has a very nice scent. To my nose, it seems pretty similar to Roam Two. I didn’t get much tobacco in the soap, but it’s definitely prominent in the splash.

    Rambler is sweet but good IMHO. The fruity notes harmonise well with the tobacco flower (which is sweeter than cigar leaf tobacco). It’s a very good companion for the mild seasons of spring and autumn! I used to have the matching beard balm and it definitely got me compliments.

      Yeah I was surprised that it was so sweet. I probably shouldn’t have been given the scent notes include vanilla and red fruit! :)

      I’m happy to have it though. I enjoy the scent and the ZM lather is always great for me.

  A nice MicroMatic non-Mammoth Monday Formation Flight. Very close, and almost perfectly comfortable.

  Man, my nose was super sensitive today! I’m finally starting to feel better after my month+ long sickness, and although I’m not completely better yet, I think my nose is more sensitive since it has been “taking a break” for so long.

  The sensitivity was more geared towards the brighter notes, as Oro Valley and Old Spice both had new to me bright, citrusy type notes. Quite nice!

  -> 2-pass head shave, 1 on the neck. Very comfortable!

  Since my cold is thankfully almost gone, I was feeling like a wellness shave was a good idea. I rarely use this soap: it’s a soft Italian croap in a huge glass jar with an aluminium lid - definitely very eco-friendly, but it kinda feels like a bottomless pit despite its softness. Basically it’s a Stirling size amount of croap in the glass jar! Makes it very easy to load, but not so easy to store.

  The name translates to “oils of wellbeing” or “wellness oils”. If anyone is familiar with the old Herbal Essences shampoos and shower gels, this would fit quite well in their lineup. Basically, the soap uses 4 natural plant oils with good glide to substitute the tallow. I feel like it’s definitely working; maybe not as good in skincare as my WK, ZM or B&M soaps, but still very solid. The sensitive skin toner has the matching scent and it actually works with lots of other soaps due to that - but today, it was a special treat since it intensified the scent a lot.

  A fresh RPL again for the RR Cyber and the difference to the BIC is night and day. Not harsh at all, just very efficient. The search for a good non-russian blade shall continue once I’ve depleted my current stock. Any suggestions are highly welcome!

  First day back in nursing school: it seems like this will also finish like my OT apprenticeship did in 2016 - after the exams are over, no contact to any former classmates anymore. The tensions are palpable, especially with the exams coming up this year. I’ll start preparing for them more thoroughly now - should help with my future career options.

  Back to work shave 🎭

  This scent combo is a bit of a miss. The strong pear in Koké completely overwhelmed the more delicate Mindigo rather than integrating itself with the boozy blueberry. LIve and learn.

  Still a good MicroMatic Mammoth Monday Formation Flight with a comfortable BBS. Now back to the office.

    I learned from watching the equivalent of the Great British Bake-Off that blueberry and peach are extremely delicate aromas, and that they will be covered by almost anything else. Seems that this is true not only in pastry!
