I had an issue with my inbox showing only the 9 most recent messages and one message about a post getting deleted. Soon after posting about the problem on a community for my Lemmy app of choice (Connect) then was an update and the problem was resolved. You might want to try doing the same

Not sure why you are asking about instances? There are multiple apps however. Are you using a phone app to access Lemmy? I would look for a community specifically for that app and make make a post about your problem there

If app, try marking all as read or clearing its cache.
Yes it is specific to this site or instance or whatever. And every post I come across I always mark as read. But have no idea how come there is 10 and in my inbox it only shows two. I get the admins or devs are busy but kind of seems like a simple fix even when I offered them to take over my account and see so they know I am not making it u[

Does your app separate comment replies and inbox messages?

Nope it just reply or just look at my unread messages so I can mark them already read. Do I need to send you a screenshot or give you my password so you can see? And that option
