Thank goodness for that! I don’t even play TF2, but it’s a really important cultural landmark in the history of online gaming and of a large era of the internet, so keeping the game in good condition and taking care of it is still quite important to me.

Thank you, I came here to snark about this being a once every odd year activity for valve. But you’re absolutely right, it is a gaming landmark and it has an active and devoted community. And it’s one of the few games of that kind that still exist from that time that allows the community to add new content and play in and around it.
I also really hope they continue to support that too.

I mean, it’s Valve. But it will be funny when #saveTF2 happens for the third time next year, and Valve does their now-yearly ban wave again and everyone repeats wondering if the problem is solved.
