At a Game Developers Conference (GDC) panel today, Larian Studios founder Swen Vincke dropped something of a bombshell by revealing that the developer isn’t planning to release any expansions or DLC for Baldur’s Gate 3, nor a Baldur’s Gate 4.
Instead, Vincke said at the panel, Larian plans to move away from Dungeons & Dragons entirely and do something new, leaving the IP in Wizards of the Coast’s hands.
Gosh, on one hand this is tragic, on the other I can’t wait to see what they come up with.

2E please. Owlcat has a great 1E system and both Kingmaker and WotR were solid, but second edition is just a much better system mechanically and balance wise.
Not familiar with Pathfinder 2E. Is it still modeled after DnD 3.x?
I’d laugh so hard if they went all in on Daggerheart.
Could they do a cyberpunk game like this? That could be cool. Maybe something space related?
tbh quite weird to leave money on the table when you have a popular, finished game you could add a DLC or two for fraction of the cost of creating a new game

It’s not exactly safe money when you’re spending well deserved good will continuing to work with a company that is self-destructing it’s own good will. They’re quitting while they’re FAR ahead.

Prolly for the best, WotC seems he’ll bent on destroying every IP goldmine they can, good to not strap yourself to a sinking ship.
Would’ve liked to see some kind of endgame for baldurs gate but oh well.
