iAmTheTot@sh.itjust.works 1 week agoCanada has an increasing anti immigrant sentiment right now. They’ve announced big cut backs to the number of immigrants allowed. Furthermore, moving to another country is difficult and expensive. It’s not a realistic option for most people.

Tbh most of the ire aimed at immigrants here is specifically targeted to either Indian or Ukrainian migrants. Infrastructure is genuinely buckling under the weight of migration but it’s a case of too little investment and not entirely the result of immigration.
I can say as a white, western immigrant to Canada that I’ve never had anyone complain about my immigration however I’ve had locals complain about immigration to me forgetting that I am indeed one of the immies.

Not in my experience, no. It doesn’t seem to be an issue with any particular group, although some people may be more vocal about Indian immigrants in particular - for what seems to be racially motivated reasons in my opinion.
The main complaint is that we’ve allowed too many people all at once and we now face issues with the lack of housing availability and affordability, the state of the economy, overpopulation and the potential strain on public resources.
