Similar thing happened to me. Got interviewed, told them my salary expectation, they turned me down and immediately published a new upper bound for the job’s salary, which just happens to be exactly 1000 € less per year than what I asked for. I lost track, but I know they kept looking for applicants for at least several weeks longer.
