Quite is a relative term, Iâve never had a vacuum that I would call quiet. The ones with decent power tend to be noisier, and Iâd rather not waste my time cleaning with something thatâs not doing the job properly. I like to listen to music or audiobooks while I do housework, (because housework is a drag), and I tend to use headphones instead of speaker because Iâm moving around and also of course vacuum noise to overcome. Set of headphones might be cheaper than a new vacuum?

Vacuum cleaner rambles
Having a stick vacuum is so much easier than a standard in a small flat but the loud noise is still such a barrier to using it. (And the non-retractable cord thatâs long enough to be awkward but somehow just too short to easily finish the last bit.) The cat and I both hate the sound of the vacuum so much it that it barely gets used. Even if I wear earplugs she gets agitated. Thereâs a 2 in 1 cordless stick vac at Kmart with reviews that say itâs really quiet. The handheld part looks like it lifts out easily. It looks perfect, the only thing is it doesnât have a HEPA filter. And Melbcat is asthmatic. Another cheaper stick vac does have a HEPA filter but that one has 2 features that I really hate. (The cord, especially those awkward length ones you have to hold out of the way during use and wind up manually. Also needing to press a button to remove the handle for converting it into the little handheld. That button broke off on my current one so itâs too much of a pain in the arse to actually use as a portable handheld.) Brands names arenât something I can justify so my options are very much Kmart budget, especially the lowish end if possible. So maybe actually vacuuming > perfect vacuuming that never happens and I should just buy the non-HEPA one Iâm more likely to use. Another issue with the Kmarget vacs is that there are no replacement parts, including the filters. But Iâve been manually cleaning the filter of this Big W one for years (tapping off dirt and hair into the bin and cleaning the grooves out with a toothpick) and it still works - I havenât even gone onto using the spare yet.

We got one of these and for the price cant fault it. on low its pretty quite, but the sound deffo kicks up if you need to turn the power up. Not SURE if its got a hepa filter though.

I donât think youâre going to find a quiet vacuum. I wouldnât trust the reviews.

This current one screams like itâs being tortured ;-;

I bought one from Aldi and it has an unnatural ear piercing sound but Iâm use to it now. Usually if they are quiet they ainât sucking to well. Iâd invest in a carpet sweeper then use the vacuum you already have occasionally.

Oh yeah, Iâve got a carpet sweeper. It just takes more physical energy to use and I need to suck up fleas

I loved my robot vac, and the sound didnât bother me or the previous cats. One current cat however thinks itâs a hilarious game to bap it off the charger every 5 seconds. Had to give up.
