I donât understand what this means. Whatâs a human development index and how does it relate to those numbers?

Yeah, itâs an odd measurement. I mainly care because it means weâre superior to tassieburgers :)
Seriously though, itâs meant to measure things like poverty, literacy, unemployment, the things usually deemed essential in western societies. The worldwide chart seems to list the US quite high up though, so Iâm not sure it really reflects anything besides âhow well developed are rich people in western countriesâ vs âhow undeveloped are the poorest people in the poorest countriesâ
