  It’s even more boring than that - the license plate system already searches ambiguous characters. It’s almost like this issue comes up even without people gaming the system.

      Something like that, yeah. Although this has 8 ambiguous characters, so actually you could have 256 cars with virtually indistinguishable plates, which is a lot. I believe custom plates have an approval process, and I wonder if this would be part of it. Like, “Yeah, no more black lincoln town cars with all I’s and 1’s, something’s up.”
