Emulation is super easy and approachable. What wre you hoping to play on?

Are you playing these games via emulation? I’ve always wanted to go back to them but TBH I have no clue where to start (that’s trustworthy).

Just a Windows PC. I’ve never messed with installing stuff from git or running emulators and IMO it’s tough to find legitimate resources to get started.

Yeah it’s probably easier than you think, though some emulators are best obtained from git just because it’s the surest way to know you’re getting them from the source. Many also have a dedicated website with download links. There are sites for identifying and downloading emulators, the emulator zone comes to mind, but they’ve been around forever and aren’t necessarily the best at being up to date. If there’s something particular you’re looking for, I’m happy to point you in the right direction.

I got a DS Lite to play on with a flash cart, but Emulation is super easy too. I’m not sure I can provide info on getting a ROM, but there’s MelonDS, which is an emulator I needed very little setup to use. Just run the executable and drag and drop the ROM.
