    While I obviously agree that it’s the responsibility of the driver to not run red lights and mow down children, the truck will not care about who’s right. Practically speaking, we should do everything we can to reduce the likelihood of this happening, which includes educating children to look both ways before crossing the street.

      Would you change your mind slightly to include teaching drivers to look forward and not at their phone if the guy was looking at anything else other than forward or the direction the truck was going?

      My family van was hit while we stopped to make a left. The woman driving the dogs behind us was going 45 on a 30mph zone that is relatively straight and well lit. We stopped at the same place the kids cross the street to go to school. She was on the phone distracted by her dogs.
