Funny story.
Edison was trying to make Tesla’s Alternating Current look dangerous, unlike Edison’s safe Direct Current.
Edison paid a stooge to push through a bill in the New York Legislature ot make AC electric chairs the official form of execution.

Honestly both of those are more humane than lethal injection. The cocktail we use is absolutely horrific. Basically you are conscious the whole time and your lungs slowly fill with fluid while you drown.
It’d be more humane to slam a fuckton of morphine and fentanyl. If that’s not an option I’ll take the meat grinder
