Sounds like there’s more I’d want to see clarified. What lead him to imply the state was directly working with an advertiser? If an ad was posted on the side of a building owned by a property company, then I’m not sure I see the government relation.

Believe me, I clicked this link ready to laugh at a fresh Jack Thompson badtake, and… didn’t get that at all from the article. In fact, what little Thompson did have to say to the journalist was, I don’t know, pretty agreeable?
Thompson, who lives in Florida, is clearly unhappy with various GTA 6 promotional partnerships being enacted across the state. “If you don’t understand that government promotion of commercial interests is fascism then we have very little to talk about,” Thompson told me. “Ask the County Sheriff what she thinks about this unholy corporatist alliance.”
I had in fact asked the sheriff, and the sheriff’s department told me that it is not concerned by “promotional decisions [made] by private businesses or organizations.” I relayed this to Thompson, who accused me of drinking the “fascist Kool-Aid,” likened me to Joseph Goebbels, and told me to stop bothering him. He elaborated on that, very slightly, in a subsequent email: “The problem is your work proves you are not an honest journalist.”
By the way, Thompson didn’t say anything about videogame violence.

The article you read links to more info:
was curious how he felt about Florida’s embrace of the GTA marketing machine, and the changed world we live in.
That article links to yet another previous one:
It should be noted that, as far as I can tell, this campaign is different from the proposed collaboration with Miami-Dade County

Governments hand out perks in the interest of tourism all the time. That hardly makes it fascist.
