Delphia@lemmy.world 5 days agoHonestly imagine how much better the traffic for somewhere like greater LA could be made by an AI system using cameras and variable speed limit signs to control the traffic flow.
If they used A.I to make our lives better in just a few ways I think society in general would be so much more tolerant of their shit.

Palantir mostly does government contracts. If they haven’t done a traffic system yet, it means no government has asked them to. So this one is on the LA local government as much as it is on the AI companies.

Yeah, why should a company proactively develop ideas to bring to market and make themselves useful. Just wait for the customers to figure everything out for them…

Spend tens of millions of your own money developing something or get paid hundreds of millions to do it.
There are an infinite amount of things that could be useful, you can’t develop all of them in anticipation of demand.
