LodeMike@lemmy.today 3 hours agoHi. I make fun of this too but it’s worth pointing out that Mojang does 100x the work to the game’s internals for speed, stability, modability, etc. It’s effectively a completely different codebase from version 1.0

Well, they decided to make a new version and bottled it, so now have a lot of tech debt to catch up on. The Java version has had work for sure, but unpaid modders still do more for optimisation.
I'm not sure on who the developers are anymore, but I sure hope the people working on the backend are not the ones relied on for new content either.
