        I dont think your sources proo what you think they do ‘An Amnesty International investigation into allegations of execution-style and other deliberate killings by pro-Russian separatists and pro-Kyiv forces has found evidence of isolated incidents attributable to both sides, but not on the scale reported by Russian media and authorities.’ Literally the first sentence The only example about ukrainians crimes is the graves of 5 seperatist crimes - an inixdent in which Sergey lavrow claimes ‘mass graves’ of ‘400’‘women’.

        The first article is Form 2023 well after the russian Invasion started (and butcha) and the ban was only in the capital - not a Region with majority russian speaking ukrainians - its fairly obvious why you would want to know if people are ukrainians Ehen you are in a war …

        What @Caves_of_steel@lemmy.world said, but also: there is no language ban. You’re not getting arrested for speaking russian anywhere in Ukraine, including Kyiv.

        What’s banned is russian work news, films, shows, books, etc. And, again, that’s only in Kyiv.

      You seem confused. I don’t think any of that, and I don’t see where I gave any indication that I did. I know that Russia and Ukraine are both full of racists. I’m annoyed by the fact that all these redditors have such a cartoon-level view of this conflict.

        I’m not confused. These questions outline the absurdity of “bUt AzOV!!”

        Do you think military units consist of the same people what like 80 years later? Do you think they categorize military units by personal belief? It’s an absurd thing to say and it’s a complete whataboutism meant to derail.

        People who try to say this have one goal – justifying the invasion and attempted cultural erasure of the Ukrainian people. It’s a disgusting, ignorant and pathetic argument that either makes you a Russian shill or a complete absolute fool. It’s your decision which you wanna be or just learn from it and don’t try to use such silly arguments which do nothing but detract from a discussion and label you as a moron.

        Discussing the history of Ukraine is different than justifying this attempt by Russia to destroy them. If we’re judging countries by their history as worthiness to destroy them then that’s not a conversation Russia will come out on top.

        Ukraine is a sovereign nation that deserves to decide their future. They are not a puppet state, they have done nothing to deserve this attempted destruction of their culture. Justifying it is pathetic as fuck.
