People who try to say this have one goal – justifying the invasion and attempted cultural erasure of the Ukrainian people. Discussing the history of Ukraine is different than justifying this attempt by Russia to destroy them. If we’re judging countries by their history as worthiness to destroy them then that’s not a conversation Russia will come out on top.
Ukraine is a sovereign nation that deserves to decide their future. They are not a puppet state, they have done nothing to deserve this attempted destruction of their culture. Justifying it is pathetic as fuck.
