LarryBetraitor@lemmy.world 3 days agoBut what if someone has a building covered in dog pictures and the whole building is shaped like a dog, they sell you a chainsaw, and when you ask them why they don’t sell dogs, they just say “Don’t judge a book by its cover”.

You don’t seem to understand what false advertising is.
If a business advertises itself as a dog adoption firm, and you go through all the steps and pay for a dog and they give you a Sony Aibo, they falsely advertised.
If the chainsaw store is covered with dog pictures, and sarcastically calls itself “the dog store”, but only sells chainsaws, that’s just a weird business with bad marketing.
