If they were giving in-universe reminders about the growing undead threat and the arrival of said threat isn’t an immediate campaign ender, then yeah. Gotta roll with what the players do without making their efforts pointless.

Everybody missing the point of green text: it probably didn’t happen. It’s also 4chan. So yeah.
But, DM clearly set a timer on when apocalypse would happen if certain goals weren’t met. Players sought other goals and thus, lost the campaign.
