Kraiden@piefed.social 1 week agoYe, this. It’s not really their fault. There’s no protocol for responsible sites to flag AI content to the search engines. They can’t really be expected to examine each and every site’s bespoke tagging system for their specific way of declaring AI imagery. I hope that changes soon, and DDG could be the pioneers of it if they wanted.

Isn’t this one of the things that embedding C2PA in generated images is supposed to help with? Even though it predates the current AI bubble, it is a provenance system. With a quick search, it seems like many of the big players are on board already.
