What’s the point of communism if you still have to work yourself to death? May as well be a capitalist wage slave, what would the difference be?

Communism was attempted to be forced under Mao. Since then heavily controlled capitalism.

Because it wasn’t communism in the first place, because communism won’t work in a vacuum. Xi Jin Ping know they would have more leverage if they run in capitalism with some socialism law in place, so they let business/corporate run wild and reeling in if they go too far. That’s exactly same as USA but with more teeth. People who tell you China is communist is either a bunch of tankie that trying to lie to you, or the communism in this case simply mean authoritarian.
