I remember something like that happening in one of the animated series too, a villain was asking who took the photos and Jameson was saying he didn’t know where the guy lived and he only contacted him by email

I totally forgot that happened. J. Jonah Jameson had a lot wrong with him, but damn, he didn’t rat sources to anyone.
Specifically because, y’know, IRL, people like the Green Goblin show up asking for the reasons you’d expect.
