I think there’s a particular problem with “piracy” when it involves people’s naked bodies. There are a ton of consequences to having naked photos or videos of you having sex posted publicly.
Most of the major porn websites (Pornhub, Brazzers, etc) are owned by the same mega corp (MindGeek? I forget, they’ve changed their names multiple times. Also have connections to Canadian organized crime…) That mega corp has been sued multiple times for hosting both revenge porn and CSAM.
Like, when you are watching porn, how do you know that the person consented to it being recorded and uploaded to that website? How do you know that someone didn’t upload private videos of their ex or an older looking child?
I don’t really have a problem with cartoon porn because it doesn’t have those risks. When people draw cartoon porn they’re drawing it to share. It does concern me that kids searching for their favorite cartoon characters are likely to encounter porn, but that’s a different issue.

Wait, why are video games problematic and why are you mentioning addiction when @andros_rex@lemmy.world never mentioned addiction as a factor in why porn is problematic? There are many gamers like me who don’t pirate/stopped pirating games.
