Fair enough. I am not sure how far Israel will go with expansion into Lebanon and I don’t know the measure of displacement and death that would constitute it as an attempted genocide, so I can’t really argue against that.
Comment on Way too easy
FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 3 weeks agoThis is semantics, but what’s happening in Lebanon certainly includes War Crimes but it’s not comparable to what Genocide means. Let’s not water down crimes like this. If the Hezbollah are “trapped” between the rest of Lebanon and Israel then that’s the result of their own actions, no pity from me.

From targeting journalists and health workers to forcibly displacing over a million people, here’s how Israel is carrying out its genocidal Gaza playbook to kill, destroy, and occupy parts of Lebanon.

That’s great pal, but the eradication of an entire culture kind of requires them to be eradicated rather than forced to move a few miles north and live in the same state they did before. Ukraine isn’t a genocide, for example.

Forced migration is literally always step 1 of genocide. What?

The genocidal intent and tactics are clear
Waiting until a genocide is complete before calling it such goes against the entire reason the definition exists in the first place

You watering down Israel’s crimes almost plays more as apologia, tbh.
