Comment on Empathy: as essential as toilet paper

I can’t lie, I shit my pants the other night while sleeping. 3am, I woke up to the dogs running around excited and noticed a big wet spot on the bed. Barely conscious my first reaction was to wipe my fingers in it and sniff it to make sure one of them hadn’t peed.

Huge mistake. Instantly awake, gagging. Realized there were several wet stains and the sheet wrapped around me was soaked. I waddled to the bathroom to find molten pudding in my boxers. I didn’t understand how it could have happened. I soon learned. I had pure liquishits. Like a chocolate milkshake that has been microwaved and then carbonated.

For the next several hours I kept walking between the toilet and the bedroom and the washing machine to try to get rid of all the mess. Walking because moving quickly or bending could cause uncontrollably SuperSoaker action from my anus.

It lasted about 5 hours, and then I was confident enough in not shitting myself again to try to lay back down. I don’t know what caused it. I’ll never laugh at someone else for shitting themselves again.

Ok, well I will probably still laugh. But inside I’ll know the shame and the pain. We really do all have battles.
