Related rant:
The whole âthere are starving children in Africaâ just felt like ignoring local problems.
Most nearby schools have kids that canât afford lunch, a good chunk are even homeless too. There are starving children in your 2 mile area, mom.
But mentioning them also raises the question of âwhy not campaign and volunteer to solve that issue.â So people rather mention the problems an ocean away.
Also for the record, average upper-class american family could help both groups at the same time by working as extra hard as most people.

Yeah, so I taught at an an inner cityish school for a decade. We had grants for free breakfast lunch and dinner if they stayed for the free after school program.
That being said, 90% of this shit served goes directly in the trash. Kids donât want grapes or apples, they donât want a non fastfood hamburger or pizza, and they definitely donât want any vegetables (I did have a few autistic kids that went ham on them) but 99/100 no.
It isnât a âthey donât have access to foodâ problem. Itâs a weâre not serving Takis, McDonaldâs, and a Coke. And obviously they never will.
I know every school doesnât have a grant like that, especially in red states, but Iâd literally bet my life it wouldnât be any more than marginally different across the country.
And before you say âmake them eatâ, yeah thatâs a good fucking joke. Teachers are getting fired for not getting a 5 year olds pronouns right and other stupid ass shit. I got out a few years ago and tripled my salary. I loved my kids, parents are dip shits.
