Comment on US problems require US solutions
PancakesCantKillMe@lemmy.world 3 weeks agoUsually a shotgun sits up front. Maybe a rifle in the boot? I’m no copologist, but they likely don’t have a rifle unless situations warrant. Maybe modern day society warrants it meow.
I’ve heard of some police departments phasing out shotguns in favor of patrol rifles. Better accuracy, more ammo, lighter weapon…
Makes sense until someone clips a deer on the highway and it has to suffer from a bunch of .223 instead of a well placed 12 gauge slug.

I saw a motorcycle cop with an AR-15 style assault rifle locked to the side of his bike, riding down the expressway, on my way home yesterday. The gun was verical near the rear on the rider’s right side with the barrel pointed down. No shotgun though.
