Yeah but you modify the treadmill to work like that. I’m just picturing like a gym of gamers all competing in some race like across the ocean of subnautica. Faster you run, faster you swim, can you reach the goal the fastest?

SmoothOperator@lemmy.world 3 days agoBut you don’t really control a treadmill - it sets a pace and you follow. It’s not like you can run faster and it will keep up, it’s the other way around.

There exist treadmills that use a solely human powered belt.

The inertia would be tricky, but maybe with some sensors and strong motors it could be done.
