SailorFuzz@lemmy.world 5 days agothe goal was not great…
silencing thousands of people and communites and hiding that from users is not great. Nothing great about it.
As for his little “death threats and doxxing” lines. Take it with a MASSIVE grain of salt. He provides no evidence of this and has proven that he’s not above lying to manipulate people. Basically, I don’t buy it and don’t trust anything he says… based on the evidence of him lying and not being trustworthy, like hiding a list of people to censor, lying about it, creating a hidden DDOS script, etc etc etc. If you still want to listen to him when he says “people sent me death threats” you’re letting him get you again.

Silencing thousands of people and users was NOT the goal - don’t get that wrong. The goal was to give users a place where they didn’t have to deal with trolls and the negativity of the world. Silencing users and instances without telling anybody or giving them the ability to toggle that on and off is completely off the correct path.

oh my bad, I guess Hitler had a great goal too then. I mean, he just wanted to make Germany great by getting rid of all the trolls and undesirables… ya know, so his chosen people didn’t have to deal with them.

You just jumped to a critical extreme and thought you made a good point? They often say the moment you bring up Hitler you lost the argument.
And once again, you are conflating the goal and the path.
“He wanted to make Germany great” is the goal. “By getting rid of all the undesirables” is the path. The goal is good. The path is bad.
Take a step back, calm down, and think instead of having extreme knee-jerk reactions to everything. Admitting there is something else besides 0 and 100 and that nuance exists would be a great start.
