The further the muzzle is from my ears, the lower the noise level I’ll experience. The projectile speed doesn’t matter.

anugeshtu@lemmy.world 4 days agoI don’t know. Isn’t the average speed of a bullet (340 m/s) under the sound barrier (343 m/s)? If that’s the case, wouldn’t it only matter how far the gun is away from you?

There are a LOT of different kinds of ammunition out there. I suppose if they get to choose what kind, they could opt for subsonic ammo (the kind that people usually use with suppressors). Otherwise, if it’s randomly selected or something, then there’s a pretty good chance that it’ll break the sound barrier.
