I recall watching some deep-dive reviews of the elder scrolls games and it being mentioned that Todd defended his dumbing down and pandering to the lowest common denominator of the RPG series as the right thing to do, because high sales figures protect the workers from the financially unstable position the studio was in prior to Morrowind’s success. I guess that’s out the window, now.
