The first time I read this, my brain automatically parsed “metal bands” as musicians. And now I think Gwar should really implement this system to commemorate all of its various lineups.

dhork@lemmy.world 3 weeks agoYes, it’s the same trophy. There are metal bands where they engrave the names every year. The trophy can only hold about 50 years worth of names, though. When it fills up, they replace the oldest metal band and send it to the Hockey Hall of Fame to make room for new names.

it’s the same trophy, they pass it along every year.
and it’s tradition that each player gets to spend a day with the cup. because of this, the trophy has gone through some wild rides… someone got drunk and dented it… someone got drunk and left it on the side of the road. Someone baptised tjeir child in it (and i believe the child peed in it)
