I’ve heard that tanning is not protective against skin cancer

I would expect there were bigger killers back in the day – maybe giant sloths or sabre tooths or mammoths (oh my!). This is interesting – ty!

Haha back in the day is not even 100 years ago before sunscreen was invented. All I was trying to say is diet effects how our skin handles the sun. There are oils in food that make our skin more susceptible to burning and ergo, cancer. I’m not saying diet will cure skin cancer. But diet sure does effect a lot of the root issues of our modern diseases. Up to and including external things like how our skin is effected by UV light. Besides, it’s not like food replaces sun screen. It’s that combined with avoiding the sun with shade and clothing and practices that will prevent burns and skin cancer. I just don’t like the idea that a product is the end all cure for sun burns and skin cancer prevention when itself is not good for you. Sure the risks of using sun screen out weigh the risks of being burned in the sun, but there are other ways to not have to risk either.
