yeah i remember how shocked i was recently when i told somebody “the farmers don’t grow food, the plants grow food”. and they responded with “yeah but that’s their fate. plants literally exist to be eaten” and i was like “what if you said that about people? some people literally exist to be enslaved?”

I think you might be creating a false equivalence when comparing using plants for stuff to literal slavery. Just a little bit.

Not true: many plants (such as nuts and fruits) demand to be eaten, and some literally cannot continue to grow unless they pass through an animal’s digestive tract first.
What they want is different than what you want.

The plants want to be eaten by a specific animal. Human beings do not have any such symbiotic relationship with any plant I know of. You’d get very sick, for example, if you ate a Cassowary Plum.
