And got in a tug of war with Gary Oldman over who people think of when they say “George Smiley”
I haven’t seen Guinness as Smiley, but I watched The Spy Who Came in from the Cold with Richard Burton as Leames (and apparently a guy called Rupert Davies as Smiley, and holy moly was it boring.
Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy was slow af, but I at least found it watchable.
I thought the BBC tinker tailor and Smiley’s People was really good, understated performances. But I’d read the books a few times so caught a lot of the cues.
