Absolutely no reason for a module on the majority of cars, especially older ones. Buy a cheap generic OBD2 adapter, pirate the coding software for your specific manufacturer, and disable it in the ECU

At this point my muscle memory simply toggles it off as soon as the engine is on, occasionally I even manage to predict when I have to stop for more than 5 seconds and turn it on in time.
